Switzer's Sideline's
Hello everyone, its great to be back again for another whole semester of exciting Storm athletics. Currently we are preparing our indoor soccer teams for some more PAC League action, but more importantly right now we are right in the heart of our ice hockey season, getting in some good games before our big hockey tournament next weekend.

We began the semester off with a game with our most common opponents, a local team in Eston called the Red Ribbons. We had a great showing from both of our players and a bunch of the Ramblers, having full three lines, and four defensemen. We began the game keeping things fairly square, they would score one, and we would get one back and so on. I would have to say that the TSN turning point of the game was at the end of the second when there was a little bit of confusion between Greg Moore, our all-star goaltender, and the rest of the team. We were down one goal, and everyone thought it was the end of the game, so the called Greg off of the ice, leaving our net unattended. The Ribbons are masters of taking advantage of weakness, and seeing their chance to increase the score they pounced quickly and made increased the deficit with a whole period remaining. This seemed to get us Storm down, and the Ribbons controlled most of the third and went on to win commandingly 10-6.

The next game of this semester was our first road trip of the year, all the way to Kindersley to take on the Barley Brothers. Tending the net again was our great goaltender Greg Moore, and with some key guest appearances from Johnny Meyer, Dusty Meyer, Darren Olyphant, and Phil Vanderberg we were fairly stacked against an older, more weathered Barley Brothers team. The story of the game was definitely found in our goaltender, only allowing 1 goal in 60 minutes of play. Also we had some key secondary scoring from Luke Moore, and Brad Hartsook that helped us jump out to a 7-1 lead much of the way into the second half. Our young, energetic legs seemed to be too much for a visibly older Barley Brothers team, so for the last 15 minutes we switched our philosophy to a more defensive stance, relying a lot more on our number one stay at home d-man Dusty Meyer. Despite the Brothers having a last minute surge of goals we were able to solidify an under-seven shutout, winning 9-4, and adding a much needed W to our stats. As the coach of the team I want to give a couple of honorable mentions out for some outstanding play in this last week. Johnny Scratch my back with a hack saw Meyer, always a solid reliable player. Darren Olyphant, a great addition to the team, and a great play-maker. Brad Quist, for always given-er and producing a lot of points. Nathan Frank, for being a great grinder in the corners. Luke Moore, for getting your first ice-hockey goal ever. Jeremy Cooper, for producing a lot of our key goals. Debra, for being a very distracting coach for other teams. Matthew Nickle, for being a great super team manager thus far.

The season is getting exciting, stay tuned for more Storm hockey updates as we venture out into this very competitive recreational hockey season. Till next time keep your stick on the ice, and taker easy.
